About Southwest Basin Implementation Plan
The Basin Implementation Plan (BIP), developed in a collaborative process by basin stakeholders, focuses on the current and future water needs in the Southwest Basin, the vision for how individuals and organizations can meet future needs, and the goals and projects that provide a pathway to success. The initial Southwest BIP was completed in 2015, and this is the first update of that plan. The 2021 BIP consists of two volumes. Volume 1 advances the Southwest Basins Roundtable 2015 efforts with an updated document that is shorter and standardized across all basin roundtables in the state. This strategy document includes a summary of the Southwest Basin and its current and future water resources, focusing on goals, projects, and a strategic vision to meet future water needs.
Volume 1 of the BIP can be found here. To learn more about other basin roundtables efforts, click here.
Volume 2 of the BIP is unique to every basin roundtable. Southwest Basins Roundtable Volume 2 provides a more detailed description of the nine individual subbasins that comprise the Southwest Basin and their nuances in the form of a web-based story map. Volume 2 includes a comprehensive look at technical update results and project data by subbasin. You can access your basin’s Volume 2 below:
- San Juan Basin
- Piedra Basin

During the 2021 BIP update process, an interactive map was developed for the Southwest Basin.
